Graduate gains Law degree against all odds
Katherine Wade will graduate with first-class honours from the University of Dundee this week after overcoming years of adversity, which threatened her dream of studying Law. Katherine always dreamed of being a lawyer, but when she was 13 years-old she was diagnosed with severe epilepsy and had to take a year out of school until her doctors were able to find the right medication to stabilise her condition. Phone lock secures Strathmore Trophy for Fife school
Creating a graphic means of fighting phone thieves allowed tech savvy school pupils to claim a top University of Dundee prize. A team from Kirkcaldy’s Balwearie High School have claimed the prestigious Strathmore Trophy after designing a pictorial login system for mobile phones and tablets. The ingenious system utilises pictures to log on to a device, requiring anybody attempting to access the system to pinpoint information within the images that would only be known to its owner. ‘Moira Macgregor – A Life in Style’
A new exhibition of work by the celebrated Dundee-born fashion illustrator Moira Macgregor will be unveiled at the University of Dundee next week. The artworks that feature in ‘A Life in Style’ were recently donated to the University by the late artist’s family, in accordance with the wishes of Moira, who died in 2016. The exhibition will open at the Tower Foyer Gallery on Friday 22 June.
