How to engage in thinking about Transformative change

New research conducted by Professor Ioan Fazey in collaboration with the international futures forum has explored a futures practice called Three Horizons. This intuitive and simple approach can be used with any group to help them develop futures consciousness. That is, a better understanding of how actions in the present relate to the future. The approach is helpful to develop thinking and actions for transitioning from one way of doing things (business as usual) to more transformative patterns. The new research paper, which is based on the extensive expertise of facilitators, outlines the Three Horizons approach and explains why it is useful, using examples. The approach, which was developed by the authors of the research, is now increasingly being used in diverse situations from youth leaders in Palestine, emancipation of women in India, to help change working patterns in health services, and to help build capacity for community resilience to flooding.
