Let’s plan a new town

Primary school pupils from across Dundee got the chance ‘to plan a new town’ at the Engage Dundee event held on 6 May 2014.  engage_MG_6307-450.jpgWorking with staff from Town and Regional Planning, the pupils began by discussing what they like and dislike about their neighbourhood.  Their ‘likes’  included living near friends, shops they could walk to, parks with swings, seesaws and football pitches, wide streets, and well-designed houses and their ‘dislikes’ included major roads with noisy traffic, anti-social behaviour, a lack of things to do in the park, small gardens, not enough shops and overcrowding. The pupils then took on the role of town planners and created their own plans for a new town.
