'Dundee - the resilient city' - Engage Dundee lecture on Thursday, 30th January
The resilience of Dundee in the face of post-industrial realities and what this means for the future will be explored at a public lecture next week. Dr Deepak Gopinath, a lecturer in Town & Regional Planning at the University of Dundee, will look at the concept of resilience before discussing this in the context of contemporary Dundee at the Dalhousie Building on Thursday, 30th January. 'Using the Force: Lasers Under the Microscope' - Cafe Science event on Monday, 27th January

Students to hear of opportunities in creative industries

DJCAD graduates to exhibit at New Contemporaries 2014
Fifteen graduate artists from the University of Dundee will exhibit their work at this year's New Contemporaries show at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. Now in its sixth year New Contemporaries is regarded as the most prestigious showcase for young artists in Scotland and the 2014 exhibition will take place at the RSA Galleries on The Mound from Saturday, 15th February to Wednesday, 12th March. Scotland's last glacier discovered
A glacier was still in place in Scotland within the last 400 years - some 11,000 years less than previously thought - a scientist at the University of Dundee has discovered. It had long been understood that Britain's last glaciers melted around 11,500 years ago. However, geographer Dr Martin Kirkbride, based in the School of Environment at the University of Dundee, has now established that a glacier was in place in the Cairngorms possibly as recently as the 18th century.
