Dundee International Book Prize judges announced

A judging panel featuring some of the literary world's most influential figures has been announced for this year's Dundee International Book Prize. Broadcaster Kirsty Lang, writer Neil Gaiman, publisher Scott Pack, literary agent Felicity Blunt and writer and critic Stuart Kelly will cast their eyes over the work of aspiring novelists from across the globe. The entrants are competing for a publishing deal with Cargo Publishing and £10,000, the largest cash prize for unpublished work in the UK. D-Lighted to lead the way

A unique study is being launched in Scotland to test whether Vitamin D can enhance treatment of Hepatitis C. The study is a partnership between researchers from Dundee University, key Scottish Hepatitis services and Hepatitis Scotland and could have significant implications on the cost and effectiveness of available Hepatitis C treatments. Bright Club Dundee set for another sell out

Academics from across Scotland will attempt to discover the properties of rib-tickling jokes when they take part in the next Bright Club event to be held in Dundee. Satellite image shows storm threatening UK

A dramatic satellite image received by the University of Dundee today shows the scale of the storm threatening to batter the UK. Commemorating the great Tay flood of 1814

Many residents of Perth will still remember the disastrous flooding of January 1993, which left many hundreds of families with flooded homes and memories which they would rather forget. But this week sees the bicentenary of a flood which was recorded as being half a metre higher. On February 12th, 1814, an ice-jam flood occurred as ice floes gradually blocked the arches of Smeaton's Bridge and constricted the flow.
