Lecturer revisits the world of fantasy fiction in second book

A midwifery lecturer from the University of Dundee, who leads a double life as a children's author, will this weekend launch the second instalment of the Shian Quest, his trilogy that fuses fantasy and folklore. 'Spinning Straw into Gold' - Cafe Science Dundee on 24th February
A University of Dundee scientist will explore how biofuels can help to reduce greenhouse gasses whilst also benefitting food production at the next Cafe Science event in the city. 'The privatisation of biodiversity?'
Should we pay farmers and land managers to accept flooding? Is it right to make biodiversity off-setting a mandatory part of land development? These and other major issues in nature conservation across the UK will be addressed at a conference at the University of Dundee this week. The Brownlee Brothers win £16,000 of prizes at New Contemporaries 2014
Fraser and Calum Brownlee, who graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) last year, have been named as the inaugural winners of the £14,000 Fleming-Wyfold Bursary. The brothers received the award at the opening ceremony of the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) New Contemporaries exhibition in Edinburgh at the weekend. The award is made by the Fleming-Wyfold Foundation, custodians of the established Fleming Collection in London. Jewellery students strike Gold(smiths)
Two jewellery students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) have scooped prizes at the Goldsmith's Precious Metal Bursary Awards 2014. Level 4 students Cathy Wang and Michelle Ho will each receive bursaries to enable them to buy precious metals for their degree work. They were recognised in the national competition, which is open to students from universities and colleges across the UK studying jewellery or a related design subject.
