Dystonia Society awards seed funding to Dundee researcher
Dr Tom Gilbertson, a Clinical Lecturer in Neurology at the University of Dundee, has been awarded £30,000 to carry out research into a disabling and currently incurable neurological condition that causes uncontrollable and sometimes painful muscle spasms. Around 70,000 people in the UK live with dystonia, and can experience difficulties with movement, eating, talking, writing, reading and sometimes even sitting up. 2015 Dundee Literary Festival to be launched

Students encouraged to ‘Give It A Go’ and take up a new sport
The University of Dundee will next week host its annual ‘Give it a Go’ days in an attempt to encourage students to try their hand at new sports. Taster sessions in 39 sports ranging from archery to athletics, fencing to football, sailing to shinty and taekwando to trampoline will be held at the Institute of Sport and Exercise (ISE), University Swimming Pool, Riverside Sports Ground and elsewhere from 14th-20th September. Dundee students honour DJ Scott Mills
Dundee University Students’ Association has honoured BBC Radio One DJ Scott Mills by naming one of its main rooms after him. The popular DJ was at DUSA last night (Wednesday Sept 9th) to play host to thousands of first-year students for the third year in a row as part of the University’s Freshers’ Week. While there he was asked to cut the ribbon on the newly named Scott Mills Room, one of the main meeting spaces in DUSA. Dundee students among `leading creative thinkers’ at Undergraduate Awards
