20,000 beads form one of 245 exhibits at 2014 Degree Show
For the past eight months, Jay Frazer’s life has been dominated by beads. In that time, she has painstakingly handmade close on 20,000 clay beads for the visually striking piece that will go on display at this year’s Degree Show at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD). Jay is just one of 245 graduands exhibiting at the DJCAD Degree Show, the first of the flagship exhibitions held by Scotland’s four main art and design colleges to take place in 2014. Conference seeks resolution to archives issue
The University of Dundee will this weekend host a conference looking at the future of the post-1878 archives of the Scottish Catholic Church. The symposium will take place at the University’s Tower Building from 10.30am-3.30pm on Saturday, 17th May and will be led by History Lecturer Dr Annie Tindley. Historians have complained that difficulty in accessing the post-1878 Scottish Catholic Archives, currently held in Columba House, is hampering their research. First Minister’s `5 Million Questions’ appearance sells-out on first day
First Minister Alex Salmond’s appearance as part of the 5 Million Questions series of public conversations at the University of Dundee has sold out a day after being announced. All available tickets for Mr Salmond’s appearance – some 700 including spaces in overflow theatres - were snapped up by lunchtime today. The First Minister will be at the University on Tuesday June 3rd. Take ‘A Walk on the Wild Side’ at museum event
The University of Dundee’s D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum will this weekend unveil a creative catwalk and invite the public to unleash their inner animal. Using the many fascinating specimens in the Museum’s collection as inspiration, visitors will be encouraged to create beastly mask designs on Saturday, 17th May as part of the Festival of Museums 2014. First Minister to join 5 Million Questions conversation
First Minister Alex Salmond has been confirmed as the latest addition to the University of Dundee 5 Million Questions series of public conversations. The First Minister will be at the University on Tuesday June 3rd.
