Jenny Marra MSP to open Know Sugar Shop
Dundee-based MSP Jenny Marra will this week open the first pop-up shop focused on raising awareness of Scotland’s ticking health time bomb. On Friday 8th and Saturday 9th August, the Know Sugar Shop at the city’s Wellgate Shopping Centre will test an idea that has the potential to change our nation’s relationship with sugar. ‘Real Unicorns and Other Strange Tales’ – public lecture on 11th August

Brian Cox to open new Enquiry Centre
Hollywood star and Dundee University Rector Brian Cox will next week officially open a new advice centre for students on campus. The Enquiry Centre represents the University’s Student Services team at a generalist level and will relocate to new premises at Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) on Monday, 11th August. The prominent facility at the heart of campus will act as a first-stop drop-in centre for students requiring assistance but unsure where, what or who to ask for help. Duo to fight it out for Dundee International Book Prize 2014
The two finalists for the 2014 Dundee International Book Prize have been announced, with one of them set to earn a publishing deal and £10,000 cash prize. This year's finalists are Rachel Fenton, a writer and artist living in Auckland, New Zealand, and English writer and performer Amy Mason. £10,000 recognition for Breast Foot Forward
A successful partnership between a leading cancer charity and the University of Dundee has been rewarded with a £10,000 award from the Alliance Trust. The Dundee-based financial services company named ‘Breast Foot Forward’ as winner of the Alliance Trust Charity Award for 2014.
