Dundee-India partnership to create Drug Discovery Unit in Bangalore
The University of Dundee has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bangalore BioCluster in India with the aim of creating a joint Drug Discovery Centre to tackle antimicrobial resistance. There is already an active programme of scientific collaboration between Dundee and the Bangalore BioCluster. The Biocluster is jointly supported by the Departments of Biotechnology and Atomic Energy of the Government of India. Professor Tracey Wilkinson appointed Cox Chair of Anatomy
Professor Tracey Wilkinson has been appointed as the University of Dundee’s Principal Anatomist and Cox Chair of Anatomy. Professor Wilkinson will be based in the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID) and takes up her post following the retirement of Professor Roger Soames. Professor Wilkinson is medically qualified with a PhD in biomechanics and anatomy, and has worked in several universities both in the UK and abroad. Researchers make drug discovery breakthrough
The potential to develop new drugs to target a class of enzymes implicated in major diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative conditions has been boosted with the development of a new drug discovery method in a research effort led by the University of Dundee. The research group have been examining the class of enzymes called deubiquitylases (DUBs). Around 90 DUBs have been identified in the human genome and they are active in almost every process in cells. Launch of Tayside Institute for Global Health
A new centre raising awareness of worldwide health issues and promoting global citizenship will be launched by the University of Dundee tomorrow. The Tayside Institute for Global Health (TIGH) will be launched at the Gannochy Trust Lecture Theatre, School of Medicine, Ninewells Hospital, on Friday, 22nd August.
