Bacterial raincoat discovery paves way to better crop protection
Fresh insights into how bacteria protect themselves – by forming a waterproof raincoat – could help develop improved products to protect plants from disease. Researchers from the Universities of Dundee and Edinburgh believe Their insights could lead to ways to control this shield and improve its efficiency, which could help curb the risk of unwanted infections in agricultural or garden plants. Dundee academic at Human Rights in Childbirth Conference
Dr Alison McFadden, of the University of Dundee, will join more than 100 attorneys, human rights advocates, researchers, midwives, doctors, students and parents in Zagreb this week for the first regional conference on Human Rights in Childbirth in Central and Eastern Europe. The conference will be held at Hotel Dubrovnik and is organized by RODA – Parents in Action, a Croatian consumer organisation, and Human Rights in Childbirth, an international NGO based in The Hague. Some of the University of Dundee’s top researchers will be sharing ideas worth spreading when they take part in the institution’s first TEDx event next month. Medicine and dentistry training programme for Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Arabian Embassy Cultural Attache has signed a contract with the University of Dundee to train outstanding students from their country as medical doctors and dentists. The first formal agreement between the Saudi government and the University of Dundee will fund three annual intakes of medicine and dentistry students to a bespoke one-year foundation course.
