Historic golf club given new lease of life at Dundee

As some of the world’s top golfers prepare to descend upon Scotland for the 2014 Ryder Cup, researchers from the University of Dundee are celebrating the game’s history with the use of the latest technology. They have produced the world’s first metal 3D-printed clubhead using irons loaned by the British Golf Museum in St Andrews. ‘15 Years: A graduate Jeweller showcase’

An exhibition of work from 29 of the best jewellery graduates to come out of Scottish art colleges over the past decade and a half will go on display at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) tomorrow. ‘15 Years: A graduate Jeweller showcase’ will be held at the Matthew Entrance Gallery, Matthew Building, Perth Road on Friday, 19th and Saturday, 20th September. Students participate in worldwide PARK(ing) Day event again

Interior Environmental Design students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) will this Friday lead Dundee’s second successive PARK(ing) Day event, when parking spaces in Dundee’s West End will be temporarily transformed into public spaces. PARK(ing) Day is an annual global event encouraging citizens, designers, artists and activists collaborate. Makar adds his tuppence-worth to independence debate

The sight and sound of BBC’s Newsnight programme being filmed in Broughty Ferry, complete with noisy and impassioned party-crashers, inspired Dundee’s Makar W.N Herbert to deliver his inimitable take on tomorrow’s referendum on Scottish independence. The poet had previously declined to contribute to the debate, believing the decision on whether to vote Yes or No to be a personal one for individuals to make. ‘A Celebration of Poetry’ on Wednesday, 24th September

Dundee University Review of the Arts will next week host ‘A Celebration of Poetry’ ahead of one of the UK’s most prestigious award ceremonies. The event will be held at the Visual Research Centre, Dundee Contemporary Arts, on Wednesday, 24th September. It takes place a week before the winners of the 2014 Forward Poetry Prizes are announced, and shortlisted poems will be read at the event. Participants will then have the chance to discuss their favourites and write their own verses inspired by them.
