This work investigates the enhancement of thermal performance of dwellings in Egypt through the use of natural ventilation. The Egyptian governmental walk-up housing blocks are being used as a case study. The main aim of the research is to investigate the enhancement of thermal comfort and energy efficiency of the case studies through optimizing the morphological configurations of the site

Medhat was graduated in 1999 from the Architectural Engineering Department of Al- Minia University in Egypt. Since then he was an assistant lecturer at the same department. He is now on a sabbatical leave and is fully funded by the Egyptian Government to read for his PhD at Dundee School of Architecture. He is working within the EDoB research unit at the School. He is expected to submit his thesis for examination by April 2011.
