The building is the third skin of the human body. Starting from that point, it can be argued that achieving thermal comfort inside buildings is a must especially in hot climates as in Egypt. Although the sensitive environment in the Egyptian deserts, the building environmental design there has not been given enough attention. This problem was clearly found in housing as well as school buildings. Theoretical analysis of the climatic context of Egyptian deserts shows that there are considerable cooling potentials of applying passive natural ventilation's strategies. The enhancement of thermal comfort of housing in Egyptian deserts through the use of natural ventilation is my focus point. The Egyptian governmental walk-up housing blocks are being used as case studies. A problem definition and a way of finding solutions will be presented in this seminar.
