General Course Showcase 2006

Now a successful annual event, this year’s General Course Showcase promises to be a celebration of creativity and diversity, with evocative work that challenges both students and audience. This exhibition offers an opportunity to see the creations of over 180 1st Year students from Fine Art, Design, and Television & Imaging as they embark on their chosen specialism at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Fresh ideas and unique approaches illustrate how artistic talent continues to be successfully developed through the General Course programme. Celebrating with a ‘Parade’, Design students will be wearing their various creations at 4:00pm on the opening.

New exhibition at Centrespace, Visual Research Centre, DCA - laser/net

Laser\net will transform Centrespace, a large, adaptable studio/gallery space that spans both floors of the VRC, into a labyrinth of lasers and new technology. This complex research project, which is expected to take most of February to install, has its preview on Thursday 23rd February.

First 'Java Online' Students Receive Awards

The first group of school pupils and teachers trained under a pioneering new course which allows distance learning and part-time study are set to complete their studies at the University of Dundee. The six-week course teaches programming in Java. Unusually, all the teaching and learning materials are delivered online, via the University's virtual learning environment, Blackboard. Students worked online with each other and with a University tutor, to learn fundamental software development skills with the popular programming language, Java.

How The Games Were Won
