The first group of school pupils and teachers trained under a pioneering new course which allows distance learning and part-time study are set to complete their studies at the University of Dundee. The six-week course teaches programming in Java. Unusually, all the teaching and learning materials are delivered online, via the University's virtual learning environment, Blackboard. Students worked online with each other and with a University tutor, to learn fundamental software development skills with the popular programming language, Java.

Among the students set to complete their study at the University this week are a school pupil and her teacher from the same school in Angus.
