How The Games Were Won
The highly popular free Saturday night lecture series starts this week, 4th February at 6pm, with a talk from Sir Craig Reedie, International Olympic Committee member. Sir Craig gives his explanation of "How The Games Were Won", an analysis of how the 2012 Games were secured for London, how it will impact on the UK and the opportunities the Games may bring for Scotland.
Sir Craig Reedie played a significant role over the entire eight year period of the project from its initial creation in 1997 through to its successful conclusion at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Singapore last year. Sir Craig played a central role in working with Lord Coe and Sir Keith Mills to convince his fellow IOC members of the merits of the London bid. He was a board member of the London Olympic Bid Committee, part of the final presentation team in Singapore and a co-signatory to the host city contract. He has subsequently been appointed to the Board of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.
All lectures take place in the Tower Extension Lecture Theatre at 6 pm, entry is free and all are welcome to attend. Further information on the entire programme is available at www.dundee.ac.uk/events and enquiries can be directed to events@dundee.ac.uk or 01382 384460.
