‘The risks to society of unrestricted antibiotic use’ – Saturday Evening Lecture on 28th March
The resurgence of tuberculosis is a very real possibility and Professor Dame Sally Davies will explain how this is just one of the many serious implications of unrestricted antibiotic use for society at the University of Dundee this weekend. Dame Sally, Chief Medical Officer for England, will deliver the next instalment of the University’s Saturday Evening Lecture Series (SELS) at the Dalhousie Building on 28th March. Championships set for Dundee
The University of Dundee will tomorrow host the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Conference Cup Finals, Scotland’s biggest student sports competition. It will be the fourth time in five years that the prestigious event has been held in Dundee. More than 300 student competitors from 12 institutions will descend upon the campus to contest 16 finals in badminton, basketball, football, hockey, rugby, netball, tennis and volleyball. ‘Computers are only for Geeks’ – Tuesday, 24th March
The idea that computers are only for geeks will be challenged by Dr Karen Petrie, from the University of Dundee, and professional comedian Susan Morrison tomorrow evening. The latest instalment of the ‘Cabaret of Dangerous ideas’ series takes place at Braes Bar in Perth Road from 7-8.30pm on Tuesday, 24th March. ‘On the Edge’ – coastal railways at risk from climate change
Footage of a railway line suspended in mid-air and buffeted remorselessly by the storm that had caused the sea wall to collapse beneath it made for one of the defining images of 2014. Experts and patients meet to tackle Scotland’s chronic pain
The latest developments in tackling chronic pain suffered by people across Scotland will be discussed at a meeting of experts and patients this week at the University of Dundee.
