Seasonal Affected Disorder Exhibition - S.A.D |
Inspired by its seasonal slot and character of the hosting gallery, this exhibition aims to overcome the ‘winter blues’. By using art to evoke optimism, by highlighting beauty in the everyday and creating happiness through visual delight, the space will become a place where even the strongest feelings of seasonal depression can be combated. Two young emerging artists have been asked to tackle the challenges presented - Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design MFA graduate Valerie Norris and Edinburgh College of Art graduate Juliana Capes.

Beatles pictures published, exhibited for first time |
When photojournalist Michael Peto died in 1970 he left an extensive collection of 130,000 prints and negatives to the University of Dundee. Two years ago the university discovered over 500 photographs of the most influential band in history, of which only three had ever been published.

Early form of breast cancer on the rise |
The number of registered cases of an early form of breast cancer called Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)1 has increased, according to new figures released today by Cancer Research UK. These show that in 2002 nearly 3800 women in the United Kingdom (322 in Scotland) were diagnosed with DCIS compared with 2910 (207 in Scotland) five years earlier.

Breast Cancer Campaign (BCC), the only charity that specialises in funding independent research into breast cancer throughout the UK, has appointed Professor Alastair Thompson as the new Chair of its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). Professor Thompson succeeds Dr Stephen Johnston who led the Board for three years.
