Almost 500 school pupils from all over Tayside and Fife are to get a taste of student life at the University of Dundee as they participate in ‘Discovering Degrees 2006’.

‘Discovering Degrees’ is a series of eight one-day taster courses run by the university’s Wider Access Study Centre. The pupils, all in S2, and their teachers follow a mock undergraduate timetable for a day, which involves interactive workshops, meeting university students, subject tasters, campus tours and working with pupils from other schools.

Among those taking part from the University are the School of Life Sciences and the the School of Architecture. Dundee University Students' Association will also welcome the school pupils into their building.

Discovering Degrees is a free, tailor-made course, providing motivational insight into university life. The course promotes higher education as a realistic and beneficial goal, raises pupils’ aspirations, while emphasising the rewards of undergraduate study.

In 2006 Discovering Degrees For S2 School Pupils runs on the following days:

  • Wednesday 25th January
