Armitstead Lectures 2015
The 128th series of Armitstead Lectures will begin at the University of Dundee this week when local historian Dr Norman Watson examines the history of the city’s revered publishers DC Thomson & Co. This year’s inaugural event takes place at 7.30pm on Friday, 16th October at the Dalhousie Building, Old Hawkhill, and will be followed by a further five talks in consecutive weeks. iGEM team to show off their `forensic toolkit’ at Café Science
The University of Dundee’s student iGEM team has just returned from the World finals of the competition in Boston with a Gold Medal. Now they are set to show off their work to the public at the latest Café Science in Dundee next week. The iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine ) competition is a global challenge for students which asks them to tackle a real world problem by designing and building a new device or system from a kit of biological parts. Visitors to the University of Dundee this autumn are being invited to enter the fantastical world of the scientific imagination. The University of Dundee Museum Collections contain many hundreds of scientific instruments and related equipment, as well as charts, models and other teaching aids. Group identifications are the strongest indicator of mental and physical health
Individuals who fail to derive value from their interactions with family, friends, colleagues, and other groups are much more likely to be depressed, drink heavily, eat unhealthily, smoke, and fail to exercise, according to a new study from the University of Dundee.
