Father to watch daughter graduate from stage
Proud fathers are not exactly in short supply at the University of Dundee’s Graduation ceremonies but only one will be on the stage with his daughter when she receives her degree tomorrow. Dr Iain Murray, a Lecturer in the University’s School of Computing, will be part of the traditional academic procession across City Square and onto the Caird Hall stage for the ceremonies on Friday, 26th June. His daughter, Kirsten, will be among those who graduate in Medicine during the afternoon ceremony. Outstanding academic achievements marked with Sir James Black Awards
The Sir James Black Awards for 2015 will give four University of Dundee graduands double reason to celebrate this week. The Sir James Black Award for Outstanding Achievement is an annual prize presented by each College of the University to the final year undergraduate student making the biggest contribution to research and scholarship in their field. The Awards are named after the former Chancellor of the University. ‘The Scholarship’ winner to graduate
The first winner of ‘The Scholarship’, the Apprentice-style, Ghanaian radio reality show offering a place at the University of Dundee will graduate later this week. Dennis Akande (27) won the inaugural series in 2013 and received a prize worth £30,000, which included a one-year postgraduate scholarship for an Energy Studies-related course at the University, return ticket to Scotland, and residential, living, and learning material allowances. Graduand’s cancer prevention device wins him award
The educational journey of more than 3000 University of Dundee students will conclude this week and a designer who has already won an award for a wearable device he hopes will help to prevent skin cancer is among the graduands looking to make their mark on the world. ‘A Passion for Print’ – new exhibition to open
A new exhibition in the University of Dundee will showcase prints by Salvador Dali, John Bellany and others as part of a national celebration of printmaking. ‘A Passion for Print’ opens at the Tower Foyer Gallery at 5pm on Saturday, 27th June. Specially curated for Print Festival Scotland, the exhibition features prints from the University’s collection selected by renowned artist and printmaker Jim Pattison, an Honorary Research Fellow at the University.
