The Rotary Club of Dundee has made a donation of £1000 to Dundee Women's Aid as the latter celebrate their 40th anniversary.
DWA have set a target of raising £40,000 over the course of their anniversary year and the Rotary donation has helped them get off to a great start.
Tim Heilbronn, President of the Rotary Club of Dundee, said, 'The current strapline of Rotary is 'We're for Communities', and we are delighted to be able to help the work of Dundee Women's Aid with some of the most vulnerable and deserving members of our community. We wish them every continued success as they celebrate their 40th anniversary.'
Mary Miller, from Dundee Women's Aid, said, 'DWA is absolutely delighted to have the support of the Rotary Club of Dundee in celebrating our 40th Anniversary.
'We are planning many events to mark this special year, including the recent Flash Mob in City Square. Dundee University are also offering us great support and we have people at their Saturday Evening Lecture this weekend which will be a tremendous event with Professor Sue Black, the crime writer Val McDermid, Professor Niamh NicDaied and Alyson Leslie, all hugely inspiring women.
'We have set ourselves the huge challenge of raising £40,000 this year and we welcome all help and support from the local community to achieve this ambitious target.'
The University of Dundee has engaged with DWA throughout this celebratory year of their 40th anniversary to help raise the profile and fund raising for this critical community service.
