Jodi Picoult ‘Leaving Time’ on 6th November

International literary superstar Jodi Picoult will appear at the University of Dundee later this week.

The event, which takes place at the Dalhousie Building, Old Hawkhill, on Thursday, 6th November, is one of two free extension events that bookend this year’s Dundee Literary Festival. Picoult will discuss and read from her latest bestselling book, ‘Leaving Time’, before answering questions about her hugely successful career.

She is the author of 23 novels and there are currently around 14 million copies of her books in print worldwide. Her last eight novels have debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list. Several of Picoult’s books have been adapted for film and television and she has received numerous literary prizes for her work.

‘Leaving Time’ is the story of a disappearance and a beautiful portrait of a mother’s love for her child and a child’s need for a mother. It is about the staying power of love and how three broken souls might just mend each other by being brought together.

“We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming Jodi Picoult to Dundee and to hear her read from her newest bestselling novel,” said Anna Day, Director of Literary Dundee. “This is the perfect way to sign off on the 2014 Dundee Literary Festival, which once again has seen us bring the best writers in the world to the city.

“We are also happy to have been able to make this a free event to ensure that everyone can enjoy hearing from a true literary superstar. Jodi doesn’t make many appearances in the UK so we’re privileged to have her here and I would urge everyone to come along for this event.”

Jodi Picoult grew up in Nesconset, New York. She has a Batchelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Princeton and a Masters degree in Education from Harvard. Her previous novels include ‘Nineteen Minutes’, ‘My Sister's Keeper’, and ‘The Storyteller’.

‘Leaving Time’ takes place at the Dalhousie Building, Old Hawkhill, at 6pm on Thursday, 6th November. A book signing and drinks reception will follow the event.
