Independence Referendum 2014: A risk or an opportunity for the Women of Scotland?

The Independence Referendum on 18th September gives the Women of Scotland an opportunity to shape their future. Women on both sides of the debate have very different visions of what Scotland could become.

This was made clear at a 5 Million Questions event at the University of Dundee last year. Now, a year on, some of the leading women on the political stage will again debate the pros and cons of an independent Scotland – with the role of women being centre stage.

Those taking part in the discussion in the University’s Dalhousie Building on Friday March 7th include Jenny Marra MSP, Shona Robison MSP and Professor Kirstein Rummery from the University of Stirling. The panel will be chaired by Professor Georgina Follett, Deputy Principal of the University of Dundee.

The event is organised to coincide with International Women’s Day and is part of Dundee Women’s Festival. It will examine women's referendum concerns, reflecting on some of the issues raised at the same event held last year, while looking to the future.

The event takes place from 6pm in the Dalhousie Building, Old Hawkhill, on Friday March 7th.

Anyone interested in attending can register for a free ticket at the link below or by telephone at  01382 381296.
