Five Million Questions - The Scottish Referendum 2014 in Historical Perspective

The University of Dundee will pay tribute to Professor Christopher Whatley and his 35 years outstanding service to the University at a special Five Million Questions event this Saturday.

The Union of 1707 has played a major part in Professor Christopher Whatley’s own research and writing as a historian of national importance. Over the last two years he has led the University’s contribution to the referendum debate through our Five Million Questions project. 

This Saturday’s event marks both his contribution to the University and the independence debate by setting the referendum and voters’ verdict in historical perspective.

As the dust settles on the referendum, Professor Whatley will be joined by a panel of leading historians including Professor Murray Pittock, Professor Edward Cowan and Dr Catriona MacDonald as well as BBC Scotland Political Editor Brian Taylor to consider the result in the sweep of Scottish, UK and international history.

The event takes place at 6pm this Saturday, September 27thm, at the University’s Dalhousie Building, Old Hawkhill.
