Dundee University Students' Association organises Scotland's largest St Patrick's Day Party

The award winning Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) can now add another accolade to the list of awards it has received over the last three years. With St Patrick’s Day falling on a Monday this year, DUSA has found itself hosting Scotland’s biggest St Patrick’s party at The Union today.

With over a 1,000 Irish and Northern Irish students studying at Dundee’s two universities,

DUSA has been hosting St Patrick’s parties at The Union for nearly 20 years. This event has grown into an all day celebration, starting at 10am and attracting 3500 students over a 17.5 hour period. During the daytime and evening students are entertained by Irish folk music bands performing in the Union’s two bars, whilst at night students will continue their celebrations within three nightclubs within The Union. To help keep students entertained throughout the whole event there’s also a variety of free attractions such as photo booths, face painters and even a temporary tattoo parlour.

DUSA President Iain MacKinnon stated, “St Patrick’s Day is one of the biggest events of our calendar, with more students coming through our doors during the day today than any other daytime event which we run. It’s great to see students not just enjoying the usual pub and club activities, but also sampling the great food, music and entertainment which we put on just for today.”
