DJCAD records success on creative loop

Two students and one graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design were last night named winners of Creative Scotland Media Awards.

Nuria Valedon, Jeppe R. Nielsen and Alan McIlrath picked up prizes at the Creative Loop Student Media Festival 2014, which was held at Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts over the past two days, culminating in the awards ceremony last night.

Jeppe and Alan, 4th Year Time Based Art & Digital Film students, were named winners of the 'Best Fiction’ award for their film 'Game', which was written, directed and produced by the pair. A trailer for Game can be seen at http://vimeo.com/81617901.

Nuria, who graduated from DJCAD’s undergraduate animation programme last year, won ‘Best Animation’ for the ‘The Keeper’, which can be seen at https://vimeo.com/66315317.

In all, 11 prizes were handed out at the Creative Scotland Student Media Awards at the festival, which aims to provide a platform for emerging talent in Film and Television, Radio and Digital Media to network with industry professionals, showcase their work and pitch their ideas.

Creative Loop works closely with the education sector across the country to further develop talent and skills for learners, independent producers and industry and looks by bridging the gap between Scotland’s creative media industry and education.

With established hubs across Scotland, the organisation offers specialised training to further develop skills for the creative media sector, utilising state of the art facilities and courses delivered in partnership with industry.
