Devolution, terrorism and sustainability among the issues explored in new programmes

The University of Dundee is to offer a number of new, exciting interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes which will prepare graduates to tackle some of the major challenges facing the world at present.

The issues of devolution, international security, terrorism and sustainability all sit at the heart of an ever-globalising society and the new postgraduate courses in these areas will provide graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to make a real difference in their chosen career path.

The MLitt Devolution and Global Governance will explore the lessons of Scotland's experience of devolution and the debate on independence and how this can be applied to similar processes across the world.

The MLitt International Security and LLM International Law & Security courses will provide an in-depth understanding of international relations and legislation pertaining to modern security issues, such as responses to terrorism, aggression and threats to environmental security.

Environmental issues will be at the heart of the MSc Sustainability programme while the MSc Management and MSc Leadership and Innovation programmes are both geared towards enabling graduates to develop the skills required to lead organisations and enhance social and economic wellbeing across the world.

Ian Ball, Convenor of the University’s Taught Postgraduate Committee, said, “As a university we are perfectly placed to offer these innovative and exciting programmes. We already have a proud tradition of producing exceptional graduates who go on to be entrepreneurs, executives and leaders in their chosen fields.

“These new programmes will build on the academic excellence of our research and help students acquire advanced specialised knowledge and skill sets required to deal with the increasingly complex and sophisticated functions essential for the modern creative economy."

Dundee is enhancing its postgraduate offering as it strives to become Scotland’s leading university. Rated number one in this year's Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey, the University is renowned for high-quality teaching, world-leading research, and its investment in a compact, friendly campus with an unrivalled position in the heart of the city centre.
