‘Constructed Materiality’ – student exhibition at DJCAD
Published On Wed 30 Apr 2014 by Grant Hill
‘Constructed Materiality’, a new exhibition of work by six Fine Art students at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD), opens at the Cooper Gallery Project Space next week.
The exhibition will showcase the work of Level 2 students Morgan Atkinson, Darryl Gowans, Steph Graham, Lily Hassioti, Tamara Richardson and Fergus Tibbs from Thursday 1st to Friday 9th May. Tamara, a member of the Student Curatorial Team at DJCAD, also curates the show.
She said, “Natural, industrial and domestic materials are juxtaposed and used as art objects in this exhibition. Each of the selected artists shares a contemporary understanding of environment and materials within their visual art, which is presented in the work on show.”
‘Constructed Materiality’ opens with a preview evening and drinks reception, which is free and open to the public, at 5pm Thursday 1st May. The preview is sponsored by The Nancy Smillie Shop.
Notes to Editors:
The artists will be available to talk about their work. The show then runs for one week, from Friday 2nd May – Friday 9th May.
The Student Curatorial Team, initiated by Exhibitions at DJCAD, curate projects and through involvement in discursive and practical events, workshops and hands on self-directed activity, they work towards an in depth understanding of exhibition making.
Cooper Gallery Project Space is open Mon-Fri, 9.30am-5pm and Sat 10.30am-4.30pm and can be accessed via the Cooper Gallery doors on the east side of the DJCAD car park.
