Chemistry conference to be held in Dundee

A prestigious international conference will see developments in microwave radiation and diamond spins discussed at the University of Dundee from Sunday.

The University will host the 47th Annual International Meeting of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy Group from April 6th-10th. More than 100 delegates from around the world will take part in the event.

This long running and highly regarded international conference is a platform for scientists working in the broad area of Electron Spin Resonance (ESR), a technique for studying materials that plays a major role in such diverse fields as spintronics, quantum computing, advanced materials science and structural biology.

Professor Tom Owen-Hughes from Dundee’s College of Life Sciences (CLS) is among the keynote speakers at the conference, while the prestigious ‘Bruker Lecture’ awarded annually to a scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to ESR, will be delivered by Jörg Wrachtrup of the University of Stuttgart.

The conference is being jointly organised by the University’s Dr David Norman and Dr David Keeble, of CLS and the College of Art, Science and Engineering (CASE).
