Charity Golf Challenge to support male cancer patients

The University of Dundee’s Institute of Sport & Exercise (ISE) will next month hold its annual Charity Golf Challenge.

Teams are invited to enter the event on Monday, 2nd June and help support men with cancer during and after their diagnosis. As a result of last year’s Charity Golf Challenge, ISE has been able to provide male patients with access to a cancer exercise rehab package through the Move More Dundee Programme.

ISE Director Brian Ewing said, “Cancer is a disease that touches all of us in one way or another. The effects of cancer and the treatment can cause long-term side effects such as limited physical function, weight gain, fatigue and depression. Evidence recommends those who are physically active during and after treatment can reduce the side effects and reduce the risk of recurrence.

“This is where the Move More programme comes in, and the ISE Charity Golf Challenge is a great opportunity for people to show their support and raise funds for local people living with cancer while enjoying a day out on the course.”

This year’s event will take place at Drumoig Golf Club, and the competition will be a stableford, four-player team event, with the best two scores counting from each team.  The teams will be playing for the ISE Charity Challenge Cup and other prizes.  A ‘shotgun’ start is planned for 1.30pm, and the entry fee of £112 per team includes a meal for each golfer.
