Carols by Candlelight offers foodbank support
Published On Mon 8 Dec 2014 by Grant Hill
The University of Dundee’s annual service of Carols by Candlelight, which will take place at 5pm on Sunday, 14th December at St Paul’s Cathedral, will help support the work of Dundee Foodbank this year.
All money collected at the service, which takes the form of the traditional nine Lessons and Carols, will be donated to the local charity which offers emergency food supplies to people in need. There will also be an opportunity to donate non-perishable food items for the foodbank at the service.
“We should remember those in need throughout the year – but Christmas, the time of plenty, perhaps makes us reflect even more on those who have so little in our midst, and how we can help,” said Jill Webster, of the Chaplaincy Team. “We extend a very warm welcome to everyone to join us for this service.”
The Carols by Candlelight Service will be followed by a reception hosted by University Principal Professor Pete Downes and his wife Dr Elizabeth Downes.
For anyone unable to attend the service the Chaplaincy Centre at Cross Row on the University Campus will be accepting non-perishable food donations on weekdays between 10am and 3pm until 17th December.
