The University of Dundee has an extensive and significant collection of Art & Design, comprising more than 8,000 artworks and artefacts. The main focus is on Scottish art, with superb examples of 19th, 20th and 21st century painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture and a broader range of contemporary media including digital art and animation. Outstanding work by key staff and graduates of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design are a particular highlight. Some areas of the collection are more international in scope, in particular an extensive holding of artists' books; a unique body of art inspired by polymath D'Arcy Thompson; the REWIND collection of early artists’ video; and Scotland's only public collection of original comics art.
