New Hi-tech Survey Accelerates Collection of Vaccination Data and Adds to Evidence for Safety of 2009-10 Swine Flu Vaccination

New technology now makes it possible to collect 'near real-time' data about whether people are having any side effects from vaccination. By studying people who received the 2009-10 swine flu vaccination in Scotland, researchers from the University of Dundee and the Drug Safety Research Unit in Southampton showed that this rapid reporting can add another layer of safety to future vaccination campaigns.

Partnership reaches important milestone in discovery of new drugs for malaria

Scientists at the University of Dundee are making rapid progress towards a potential new treatment for malaria. Dundee's Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) initiated a project in partnership with Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) around 18 months ago and has already identified a compound that is curative in a mouse model of malaria at very low doses, when given orally.
