Tayside Construction Forum to host Scottish Futures Trust event
Event: Scottish Futures Trust - Opportunities for local industry engagement with East Central Hub
Wednesday 23rd November, 5.30pm, Dalhousie Building, University of Dundee
The Tayside Construction Forum will tomorrow (November 23rd) host a presentation by the Scottish Futures Trust and their preferred operator for the £500million East Central Hub.
The Scottish Futures Trust recently confirmed that the Amber Blue consortium - comprising Robertson Group (Holdings) Ltd, Amber Infrastructure and FES - had been appointed as the preferred bidder for the East Central hub Territory.
A potential pipeline of up to £500m of infrastructure projects will be delivered through the East Central hub over the next 10 years and the flexible hub supply chain will offer many opportunities for local companies within the construction industry to become involved in building high-quality public sector buildings in their own area.
Tomorrow evening at the University of Dundee, Catherine McFie (East Central hub Territory Programme Director) will provide Tayside Construction Forum with an update on the pipeline of projects to be procured through the Hub. Neil McCormick, Amber Blue Bid Director, will explain the structure and operation of the supply chain system by which the local industry can contribute to and benefit from public sector procurement covered by the Hub initiative.
The event takes place in the Dalhousie Building at the University, on Old Hawkhill, from 5.30pm.
Neil Simpson, Tayside Construction Forum Chairman, said, 'We are delighted to welcome the Scottish Futures Trust and their preferred hub operator to our events series and to give the members of the Tayside Construction Forum the opportunity, at first hand, to hear how they can become involved in the initiative and join the local supply chain.
'We would like to thank the Scottish Futures Trust for affording us this opportunity and for their continued support of the Forum. The SFT Hub initiative represents a fundamental shift in public sector procurement. It is of the utmost importance to the local construction industry that they engage in the process and position themselves to be able to provide services within the procurement framework.'
'Our aim for the Forum is to encourage Tayside construction companies to continue to provide the range and quality of services under the initiative that it has done in the past to the individual public sector organisations. Tayside’s economy needs a strong construction sector and the East Central hub offers an opportunity for growth in difficult times. We encourage all sectors of the construction industry to join us for the event.'
Neil McCormick said, 'Naturally, we are delighted with our appointment and are keen to commence delivery of these vital projects which will generate multiple benefits for the communities which we will serve'
A General Meeting of Tayside Construction Forum will take place at the University of Dundee on the evening of 7 December, coinciding with 'Gaining an Edge - Cost Effective Marketing' the next event in its Autumn 2011 to Summer 2012 programme.
