Tee Time at Botanic Garden
The University of Dundee is hosting a new kind of course that could lead green-fingered golf fans to a different kind of Masters. As the world’s top golfers arrive in Scotland ahead of the Open Championship at Carnoustie next month, staff at the University’s Botanic Garden are already getting into the swing of things as they prepare to open their very own putting green. Research and teaching wins at Herald HE Awards
We have won Research Project of the Year and the Enhanced Student Learning Awards at the Herald Higher Education Awards, held last night in Glasgow. Professor Ghulam Nabi’s work on prostate cancer research was named Research Project of the Year, a category in which the `Hands of X’ project led by Dr Graham Pullin was also highly commended. Saddleworth Moor fire seen from space

Volunteering nets accolade for computing lecturer
A University of Dundee lecturer has been honoured for his work in promoting science to the public. Dr Iain Murray, of the University’s Computing department, has been awarded the British Science Association’s (BSA) prestigious Sir Walter Bodmer Award for his decades of service to the charity. Maths award to recognise links to Northern Ireland
From Danny Blanchflower to Snow Patrol, the University of Dundee has a proud history of welcoming Northern Irish students to Scotland and a new award, presented for the first time last week, celebrates this relationship. The University of Dundee Mathematics Award will be given to Northern Ireland’s top performing student in GCSE Mathematics each year.
