Prestigious fellowship award
Rob Watt of the Department of English has been elected to a Visiting Fellowship at the Institute of
English Studies in the School of Advanced Study at London University for 2004-5.
This award, rarely conferred on UK scholars, recognises Rob as the country's leading authority on
computer concordancing. He will use the Fellowship to co-edit the complete works of the major
17th-century dramatist John Ford with a team led by Professor Brian Vickers and direct work on the Ford
Concordance.
Rob said, "After spending much of my time in recent years helping to shape the University's e-learning
and IT developments, I am looking forward to beginning an exciting new collaborative research project in
English Studies. John Ford was one of the major writers after Shakespeare, yet there has never been a
complete edition of his works. I am delighted to have been asked to join the international team
co-editing Ford and offered a London Fellowship to do so."
