University students `PopDundee’ with Overgate shop

Dundee shoppers will have the chance to buy work from some of the city’s brightest young creatives throughout this week as students from the University of Dundee set up their pop-up `POPDUNDEE’ shop in the Overgate Centre.

POPDUNDEE has been set up by 2nd-  and 3rd-year students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, part of the University, with the support of the Overgate Centre.

It will be in place close to the Costa café at the west end of the Overgate Centre from today (Monday 11th) to Friday 15th, selling prints, jewellery and crafts.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all of us as students to showcase our work and for the public to see what is being created right here in Dundee,” said Jamie Mowat, a 3rd-year animation student. “We’ve got work from different students available every day from 9am to 5pm and it is a great lead-in to this year’s Degree Show.”

The pop-up shop has been supported by the Overgate as part of their `15 Good Deeds’ campaign. Overgate Centre Manager Malcolm Angus commented, “We are delighted to be able to include POPDUNDEE in our 15 Good Deeds campaign, celebrating Overgate’s 15 years in the community.  We hope our shoppers will be able to support these talented individuals.”
