University excellence showcase for Pakistani delegation
Published On Fri 5 Jun 2015 by Grant Hill
A delegation from Sindh Madressatul Islam University, one of the oldest educational institutions in Pakistan, will visit the University of Dundee next week.
The group will be headed by Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Vice-Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University, and will include nine students and four Professors along with representatives of the British Council. They will visit Dundee on Monday, 8th June.
Dundee is one of just five institutions being visited by the delegation in order to give them an insight into the UK Higher Education sector and how its practices can be emulated in order to aid Pakistan’s growth and development. The trip is being recorded and the British Council will produce a film highlighting the strengths of UK universities.
The Dundee leg of the tour is being organised by Fahd Asif, Senior International Officer at the University, who said, “This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of Dundee and a chance for us to share best practise in the various things we do helping transform lives globally.”
“The objective of this visit is to help the students explore different courses, application procedures and become acquainted with local attractions and culture in the UK. The delegation will meet with staff and students at Dundee and enjoy a programme that demonstrates what makes Dundee such an attractive destination for overseas students. Hopefully we will encourage many of our visitors to continue their graduate studies here.”
The events that the Sindh Madressatul Islam University students will take part in are centred around four themes:
- Enhancing Student Engagement and Experience
- Innovation in Learning & Teaching and Employability
- Environment and Sustainability on Campus
- Local Governance and Representation
The British Council Pakistan are organising the tour of UK universities as part of their Future Leaders Programme.
