Teachers set to ‘Experience The University of Dundee’

The University of Dundee will tomorrow welcome teachers and skills development advisors from across the country keen to hear about developments at the institution.

‘Experience The University of Dundee’ will take place at the Dalhousie Building from 10am-3.15pm on Wednesday, 27th May. Presentations will be delivered throughout the day by key members of staff to highlight Dundee’s work with regards to admissions, student support services, extracurricular opportunities and supporting the transition from school to university.

Attendees, comprising guidance teachers from schools as well as Skills Development Scotland (SDS) advisors, will also tour academic departments and hear from leading academics about the latest research and developments happening across the University.

Ali Clark, UK/EU Student Recruitment Manager at the University, said, “We hold this information event every year and it’s proven to be very popular.  It allows key advisers to visit our campus, meet with high profile academic staff as well as current students, and find out about new developments within the University. With the high volume of applications to universities, we hope it will be particularly beneficial for teachers when they are advising young people on the application process to higher education.”

The University has recorded several positive results in recent UK and World rankings. Dundee was among the fastest risers in the 2016 Guardian University Rankings, moving up from 47th to 38th.

The University was ranked 54th in the world – and 10th in the UK – in the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2015 and was named one of the world’s top 20 universities founded in the last 50 years by Times Higher Education (THE).

The International Student Barometer (ISB) Survey, the largest annual study of international students, ranked Dundee in the World Top 20 and number one in Scotland and it was recognised as offering the best student experience in Scotland for the sixth year in succession in the latest THE Student Experience Survey.

The QS World University Rankings© by Subject placed Dundee among the world’s elite higher education institutions for Art & Design, Biological Sciences, Education, Medicine and Pharmacology, and English Language & Literature.
