Scottish night for Spanish students
Published On Wed 8 Jul 2015 by Grant Hill
A group of Spanish students undertaking a special Summer School programme at the University of Dundee will tomorrow be introduced to Scottish food, drink and culture at a reception held to welcome them to the country.
The Scottish Evening takes place at the University’s Tower Building from 6-9pm on Thursday, 9th July. Ten students from CEU San Pablo University in Madrid will attend the event along with staff and students from the University’s School of Life Sciences.
The students arrived in Dundee at the weekend for the four-week Science Communications Summer School, which aims to give them an immersive experience of performing, discussing, reporting and presenting science in English.
The programme will teach the participants skills relating to short writing, practicals, report writing, poster and oral presentation. In the final week of the visit, students will submit a report of the results of the practical experiments they have conducted as well as presenting a poster with their main findings to staff.
Cultural visits and social events will also take place, with haggis, stovies, cheeses, shortbread, tablet, berries and other local delicacies on the menu at the Scottish Evening and wine, whisky and beer to wash it down.
