Masters Show 2015

Gunpowder drawings, an exploded North Sea oil pipe, the reconstructed face of an 18th century pirate, and state-of-the-art animation to help medics explain conditions from pancreatic cancer to inflammation all combine in a dazzling display of art and design at the University of Dundee’s Masters Show 2015 this month.

Transformative design and visually stunning art from five of the UK’s most innovative and exciting postgraduate courses – MSC Animation & Visualisation, MFA Art & Humanities, MFA Art Society & Publics. MSC Forensic Art, MSC Medical Art – will be exhibited.

Masters Show opens with a preview on Friday August 21st and runs until Saturday August 29th in Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, part of the University of Dundee.

It follows on from the University’s record breaking Art, Design and Architecture Degree Show earlier this summer, which was viewed by 15,000 people over ten days in May.

Professor Paul Harris, Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College, said, “Our undergraduates created a huge buzz this year with their Degree Show and now it is the turn of our postgraduate students to display their imagination and creativity.

“Our Masters students are challenged to carry out intelligent and comprehensive research to complement their creativity in order to produce stimulating work. The Masters Show displays just how well they have met that challenge, with some truly stunning exhibits that range from the highly artistic to the deeply practical. The show is a testament to the staff and students who once again have demonstrated that Duncan of Jordanstone is a world-class, 21st Century school of art and design.”

The Masters Show celebrations will begin with a special, invite-only Preview Evening on Friday, 21stAugust. It will remain open until Saturday, 29th August. The exhibition is open from 10am-8pm on weekdays and from 10am-4pm at weekends.
