The University of Dundee has been ranked 54th in the world – and 10th in the UK – in the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2015.
The ranking measures the scientific performance of 750 major universities worldwide using a sophisticated set of bibliometric indicators. The ranking aims to provide highly accurate measurements of the scientific impact of universities and of universities’ involvement in scientific collaboration.
The newly published 2015 rankings place Dundee at 54th in the overall rankings, up 11 places from 2014.
“I am delighted that Dundee has not only recorded a good result but that we continue to improve our standing, up from 65th last year and 79th in 2013,” said Professor Pete Downes, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee.”
“This ranking is a key indicator of the strength and impact of research and also the international reach of institutions, key features of our Transformation vision to become Scotland’s leading university. It also comes on the back of other positive rankings which are testament to the exceptional work being carried out to staff across the institution at a challenging time for the whole higher education sector.”
Dundee has enjoyed a run of success in recent surveys measuring the performance of universities. It was named one of the world’s top 20 universities founded in the last 50 years by Times Higher Education (THE) and ranked in the World Top 20 and number one in Scotland in the International Student Barometer (ISB) Survey, the largest annual study of international students.
The University was also been recognised as offering the best student experience in Scotland for the sixth year in succession, according to the latest THE Student Experience Survey. The QS World University Rankings© by Subject placed Dundee among the world’s elite higher education institutions for Art & Design, Biological Sciences, Education, Medicine and Pharmacology, and English Language & Literature.
