12-hour volleyball marathon to bring about ‘spike’ in coffers

The University of Dundee’s volleyball club will this week be setting, serving, digging, spiking and blocking for 12 hours straight.
Members will be holding a 12-hour marathon volleyball fundraiser at the University’s Institute of Sport & Exercise (ISE) from 8am-8pm on Friday, 20th March. The funds raised will be split between the club and Dundee Disability Sports Centre.
Club President Jamie Shannon said, “Ten committee members are forming a team that will be playing for the full 12 hours so we’ll need to be careful about our rotation of who is out there at any one time. We’ll be playing a new team each hour so they will be much fresher than us.
“We’ve been training hard in the run up to the event, however, and are really looking forward to having a bit of fun and raising money for a worthy cause in the community.”
The club are hoping to raise £1000 from the event and donations can be made at https://www.justgiving.com/yimby/DUVC12hourvolleyballmarathon#/.
