from your convener
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of GC.
As usual, contributions illustrate the diversity of interests, careers and the attractions of studying at Dundee. You have to admire the stamina and determination of the University's Boat Club members for their efforts in building up funds and membership. Other graduates featured are as varied as an artist, author, engineer, international businessman, millionaire businessman, fundraiser in an exotic location, a botanist and his memories, a microbiologist turned opera singer and a Commonwealth Games hopeful. This is an impressive range of talent and ability.
You'll notice that the date of the Annual Meeting and Discovery lecture has been changed. These will now take place in Graduation Week and the addition of the Friday evening alumni/staff party this year gives you an added incentive for a July visit.
While you're here you can also take the opportunity to see the refurbished Student Union and to preview the changes scheduled for the next few years. For those of you still to take up Life Membership of DUSA, this is still available at the bargain price of £15. For this, you and your guests have use of the facilities and also the reciprocal benefits of other UK Unions.
May I remind you, as Graduates' Council members, that three business committee vacancies become available each year and I would ask you to consider becoming more involved with the University by putting your name forward for one of these places.
GC is a great magazine and I thank you for supporting it. Keep your news and stories coming in - we are always very glad to hear from you.
