Fantastic Four return from Florence
Four Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art graduates who were all awarded the Royal Scottish Academy's John Kinross Scholarship to Florence in Italy in 2006 returned to Dundee earlier this month for an exhibition showcasing their work.
Clare Brennan, Chris Park, Emma Reeves and Lara Scouller joined forces for the Four in Florence exhibition which ran for three weeks in the Lower Foyer Gallery at Duncan of Jordanstone.
The exhibition, which featured work created in Florence or inspired by the artists' trip to the city, aimed to promote awareness of the Scholarship to forthcoming applicants. The £2,000 scholarship is intended to assist Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking and Architecture students in Scotland to live and study in Florence for up to three months.
Clare Brennan received a Dundee Visual Artists Award to produce a painting for this exhibition and has recently been selected for the Guardian Observer Future 500 list.
During 2006, Chris Park's work was selected by the RSA to advertise their annual Student Exhibition and he received the RSA Keith Prize Award. Park is the RSA photographer and has launched his own photography and publication design company.
Emma Reeves received the RSA Sculpture prize at the 2006 annual Student Exhibition and the George Duncan of Drumfork Sculpture prize: Travelling Scholarship. She has exhibited work in Shanghai, London, Edinburgh and Dundee.
Lara Scouller was awarded the RSA Landscape Prize at the annual student RSA exhibition in 2006. In October 2007 she received two prizes from the Paisely Art Institute Drawing Competition; the Plein Air Prize (a residency in France) and Miller's City Art Shop Prize. Her work has been exhibited in London and throughout Scotland.
