Art detectives wanted
An intriguing new art exhibition at the Lamb Gallery in the Tower Building is urging visitors to turn detective to solve an unusual puzzle.
`Wanted' features some mystery artworks from the Duncan of Jordanstone College Collection.
Since moving to its current home on the Perth Road in the 1950s, the Art College has collected examples of students' artwork, mostly drawings and paintings. Many of these were unsigned and are now unidentified.
Staff at Museum Services, who have cared for the collection since 1997, are now seeking to identify as many of the un-named pieces as possible.
`Wanted' includes drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture, silver and textiles, mostly dating from the 1950s to the 1980s.
The show has been curated by Julie Brown, a postgraduate student on the University of St Andrews' Museum & Gallery Studies programme. Julie is keen to hear from any former students or staff who would be willing to share their memories of the College. She can be contacted on jamb2@st-andrews.ac.uk or 0784 686 1635.
The exhibition will run until 1 March.
