Charities Committee Fashion Show a great success
The Dundee University Charities Committee has raised almost £1200 at the annual student fashion show. Each year the committee holds the event in order to raise money and increase awareness of good causes.
This year the recipients will be Alzheimer Scotland, Diabetes UK, Circles Round Dundee, which assists children with autism and adults with learning difficulties and The Kianh Foundation which sends aid to abandoned disabled Vietnamese children. Before this year's fashion show the charities committee had already raised more than £2000.
More than 40 models hit the runway at the Union in a display of clothes from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and the noughties.
A dress fit for the 21st century and beyond, designed by second year Art and Design student Egle Petrauskaite was one of the highlights of the show. Her design was based on a futuristic theme to act as a symbol of fashion to come.
The models also donned clothes from an array of local shops including Ann Summers, Zara, New Look, Ozzies and Bay Trading.
Emma Symington, who co-organised the event said, "The fashion show is an excellent way for established shops to show off their clothes, as well as introducing a designer of the future to a new audience. It is a fantastic way of raising money for our chosen charities."
