Greenfingered expertise from the botanics
Spring is in the air and the milder weather may be enticing some of the more green-fingered
among us to venture out into our gardens. But if you think you could benefit from some expert
gardening advice, the upcoming plant clinic at the Botanic Garden could help you to give your
garden a new lease of life. The clinic is one of the upcoming events in the botanic’s spring
programme.
The plant clinics will take place between May and August, offering you a chance to discuss your
gardening problems with Alasdair Hood, Curator and Bob Sutherland, Garden Supervisor.
Other events on the programme include a family fun day on Saturday 23 April, which will feature
face painting, storytelling, badge making and tree trails. An eight-week course on gardening will
begin on 26 April, with the aim of giving gardeners a better understanding of their hobby and
offering a 'hands-on' element as well. Bach flower remedy and herbal medicine are also among the
upcoming classes, offering an alternative look at the benefits provided by herbs and plants.
For full details of all the courses see the events diary on pages 12-13. Or contact Alasdair
